these shoes are made for walking: la collection de chaussures d'Ángel Salvador
this project, in the form of digital prints, a series of documents and a soundtrack, was created taking a local news-clip as a starting point: it featured a mexican bank teller who set himself to keep every one of his son's shoes until his 18th birthday. he had accomplished his challenge and was now ready to trash them, as the act collecting seemed to be his main goal and not the collection itself.
after cleaning, re-ordering and documenting each pair, the photographs (107) were presented at la maison rouge, a french art center specialised in contemporary art collections; this was the first public showing of mr. durán's collection.
a limited edition soundtrack was released for the exhibition with original tracks by ray rumours and françois and the atlas mountains and multiple versions of lee hazelwood's song.
